linux - Chmod 777 to a folder and all contents - Stack Overflow

chmod 777I'm trying to change the permissions of temp_dir to 777. Why are these commands not accomplishing that? I'm using Linux by the way.chmod a-w file (removes all writing permissions) chmod o+x file (sets execute permissions for other (public permissions)) chmod u=rx file (Give the owner rx permissions,
